“When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing” John 9:6-7

Beloved ones, that is an exciting story that speaks to our conscience and strengthens our faith. Indeed, to heal that man who was born blind, Jesus used a peculiar method that differs from what he was used to doing until then. He used his spittle and sand. Why did he mix sand and spittle? Simply because man was drawn from sand. By anointing the eyes of the blind man with clay, Jesus did his bit and asked him to go and do his by washing in the pool of Siloam. The man obeyed and could see again.

Why had Jesus not healed this man using the word, as he had done in many cases before? Why had he not done exactly as was the case of Bartimaeus? He just wanted that man to do something, to perform his bit in his miracle. And that man neither murmured nor provided any reason against God’s instructions.

If we put forward fleshy reasons against God’s instructions, we shall miss our miracles because obedience triggers miracles. There is a price for each miracle and we should pay it to see the miracle occurring.

- If the Zarephath widow had not acted with faith by giving Elijah the cake and the small amount of floor and oil she had, she and her son would have perished as well in that famine.

- Had Naaman not listened to his co-worker by obeying Elisha’s instructions to wash seven times in the Jordan, he would never have healed from leper.

We need to do our bit. That is what is known under “active faith”. Unless you take action, Jesus will do nothing in your favor. To put it somebody, we are bound to take action for it is in action that God puts breathe. That is also why the Bible declares in Job 22:28 “what you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways”.

Therefore beloved one, rise and do your bit for God is only waiting for you to act in your favor!
